MLK9 Dog Training teaches parents how to communicate with their pets using clear commands. We also reward good behavior. Once we have established a solid foundation in obedience commands, we move on and teach advanced skills like off-leash control, loose lead walking, and other behaviors such as jumping up or biting. Our training methods are based in science and modern, humane dog training methods. We use positive reinforcement as our primary method of increasing your dog's motivation to learn and to behave in a way that you like better than before. Reward-based punishment is also used. This means that if your dog does anything that you don’t like, you don’t punish him. Instead, you remove the reward for a brief period until he stops doing it. Mike Lilley is an incredible dog trainer. He uses modern training methods which worked miracles for my dog. He is very responsive to any questions I have and is always willing to help. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of dog training.
I attended a tracking seminar this past weekend presented by Mike Lilley from MLK9 and had an amazing time. Mike is extremely personable, knowledgeable and welcoming. He has a wealth of wisdom on both pet dog training and working dog training and I was left with many takeaways that would help me professionally in the canine world as well as with my pet dogs. Mike’s personality leaves you feeling comfortable to ask questions freely without judgment, which was big for me since I had no prior experience with tracking. I would highly recommend reaching out to MLK9 for any dog training needs.
From the first call with KLM9 through training, the trainers have been clear, honest, straightforward, and spot on about our dogs’ needs. At the time, our puppy, Augustus, was a chaotic hot mess. Augustus was a typical puppy with zero obedience, no concertation, and listened just as much as a pile of rocks. Augustus went through the six-week off-leash program. The difference between Augustus before and after is extreme. Augustus is such a great-behaved puppy. His personality didn’t change, and he is happy and full of energy. The best change was his behavior. He listens, obeys commands, and is genuinely less chaotic and scatterbrained. He knows his boundaries and plays without being destructive. We are so thankful we found KLM9. They genuinely care about dogs and their continued progress and success. The training class KLM9 provides for dog owners was so helpful in building our knowledge and confidence. We now have some strategies to use when people come over to keep everyone safe and happy. Augustus has learned to relax on command and is much more comfortable and balanced. He can be taken out in public and enjoy doing activities with us. I highly recommend KLM9 P to anyone looking for a change in behavior for their dog. Training is a lifelong investment and worth every penny. Everyone at KLM9, especially Lizzy, you have been so wonderful. We will continue to use KLM9’s boarding services, and we are glad we will be able to see everyone through the years to come. Thank you! Augustus sends a big puppy “Thank you!”
